Background Information England’s Sussex countryside is an ideal wine growing area - gentle slopes protected by the South Downs with the same fertile green sand soil as Champagne in France. Nutbourne Vineyards were first planted in 1980 and there are now 18 acres of vines in production. Our total wine production is between 25,000 and 50,000 bottles per year. As well as winning various awards and medals, Nutbourne wines all carry the EEC standard of “Quality Wine PSR” - the highest grading for wine in this country.
